Nocturnal

From November 30 through December 29, 2013 BCB ART will present a group show entitled NOCTURNAL ⎯ an exhibition focusing on events that happen after dark. A wide spectrum of nighttime associations come into play within this collection of paintings, sculpture, drawings, and prints, including a sleepwalking stroll, a late-night job deadline, a satellite searching the evening skies, the chirp of crickets, and even the threat of a vampire. Yes, things may go bump in the night, but this exhibition takes a humorous approach to many such fears.

NOCTURNAL will feature works by the artists Ching Ho Cheng, Barbara Friedman, Musho Rodney Alan Greenblat, Bill Griffith, Emily Gui, Lynn Itzkowitz, Karen Moss,  Lucio Pozzi, Scott Reynolds, Eric Rhein, Kay Rosen, Judith Simonian, Lorenza Sannai, Andy Warhol, and William Wegman.

A reception for the artists will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM.

OUTSIDE: Selections from the estate of Cynthia Coulter.
The late Cynthia Coulter was a well-respected artist who had a passion for collecting unique and unusual outsider art from her native state of Oklahoma, as well as from country locales in Texas, Illinois, and New York. This tribute exhibition will focus on select pieces from her impressive collection, such as ornate handmade lamps fashioned from ice cream sticks and marbles, tables made from twigs and sewing spools, colorful paintings and drawings, and carved and polychromed wooden animals.

Per the artist’s wishes, all proceeds from the sale of these artworks will be donated to various charities, including the Texas Women’s Shelter and the US Humane Society.
