From March 16 through April 21, 2013, BCB ART will present “Making Tracks,” new work by Dan Welden.
The centuries-scored landscapes of our earth, whether etched by nature, animals, or man, have inspired Dan Welden to create a body of abstract paintings, prints, and drawings. Although they do not literally depict a specific landscape or site, they lyrically bring an interpretation to the mood of ‘the place’.
The artist uses observances from his own world travels–such as tracks made by sheep on the New Zealand mountains or trodden down grass on a wildlife preserve–to infuse his work. These observances spark mystical and sensual gestures that Welden then translates into his unique brand of artwork.
Welden’s artworks have been purchased by numerous private and public collections, such as The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Portland Museum of Art, and The Temple University Art Gallery.
Dan Welden is also the creator of an innovative, eco-friendly, acid-free etching technique called Solarplate, about which he has authored a book entitled Printmaking in the Sun. Renowned artists such as Eric Fischl, David Salle, and others have published prints using this new process at Mr. Weldon’s firm, Hampton Editions.
Also on view at BCB ART will be a group show of gallery artists, including work by Jef Bourgeau, Jim Goss, Lucio Pozzi, Fred Scruton and others.
A reception for the artist will be held at the gallery on Saturday, March 16, from 6 to 8 pm.
BCB ART is located at 116 Warren Street in Hudson, New York 12534
