PPP paintings prints photographs new work by DAN WELDEN

PRESS    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

From September 1st thought October 7th, 2018 BCB ART will present                P P P –paintings, prints and photographs , new work by DAN WELDEN.

The artist uses observances from his own world travels¾such as tracks made by sheep on the New Zealand mountains or trodden down grass on a wildlife preserve¾to infuse his work. These observances spark mystical and sensual gestures that Welden then translates into his unique brand of artwork.

“Learning to read a surface before drawing and painting is like sensing the log before wielding the axe. So goes my pursuit of the creative act. Sensing and feeling what echoes in front of me and responding with marks, colors and textures.”

Welden’s artworks are in numerous public and private collections, such as The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Portland Museum of Art, and The Temple University Art Gallery.

Dan Welden is also the creator of the innovative, eco-friendly, acid-free etching technique called Solarplate, about which he has authored a book entitled Printmaking in the Sun. Renowned artists such as Eric Fischl, David Salle, and others have published prints using this process at Mr. Welden’s atelier Hampton Editions.

A reception for the artist will be held at the gallery on Saturday, September 1st- from 6-8 PM.

A special preview and informal conversation with the artist will be held at the gallery Sunday August 26th  2:30pm, in conjunction with his  guest residency at The OMEGA Institute, in Rhinebeck, New York.
